Following a nationwide search, Chancellor Donde Plowman announced Paul Byrnes will permanently take the position of Senior Vice Chancellor for Finance & Administration.
Byrnes joins UT from Emory University, where he most recently served as vice provost for academic finance. His collaborative approach and deep experience working to improve administrative structures, optimize resources, and manage budgets in an academic setting make him the ideal leader in this role.
At UT, he will oversee the Division of Finance and Administration, which includes Campus and Auxiliary Operations, Facilities Services, Finance and Administration, Human Resources, and Public Safety.
The position has been held in an interim status by Allen Bolton since January of 2023. Byrnes will officially start in his role July 1. More information about Paul Byrnes is available in the announcement from the Office of the Chancellor.
