Subject: Minors on Campus or Participating in University Programs – Summer 2013
The University of Tennessee’s Minors on Campus Risk Assessment Committee has identified actions that should be taken immediately with respect to university-related camps and programs that will take place this summer.
The committee has asked that before June 1, a state and national sexual offender registry check must be performed on any university employee with primary responsibility for directing, coordinating, or overseeing camps, programs, conferences, or facilities in which minors are likely to participate between June 1 and October 1, 2013.
Supervisors will be performing these checks on all faculty, staff, and volunteers who may have direct contact with minors during this time period.
To perform a national sexual registry check on an individual, visit http://www.nsopw.gov/en-US/Search.
To perform a Tennessee abuse registry check on an individual, visit https://health.state.tn.us/AbuseRegistry/Default.aspx.
Every UT employee, student, and volunteer who may have direct contact with minors must read and sign the attached document, “Tennessee Law on Mandatory Reporting of Child Abuse and Child Sexual Abuse.” You must retain the signed versions of the document.
Copies of the registry checks and the signed document must be sent to Jeff Maples, 405B Andy Holt Tower, Knoxville, TN 37996-0145.
If you have any questions concerning these guidelines, please contact Jeff Maples at 865-974-3061 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
